Blue Buffalo Cat Food Reviews

Blue Buffalo Cat Food Reviews By

Blue Buffalo Cat Food's humble beginnings were actually inspired by a dog.

Blue Buffalo Cat Food is produced and manufactured by the Blue Buffalo Company. The owners' dog, Blue passed away due to cancer. Not being satisfied with the vet's response, they went ahead and did their own research and developed pet food of their own. Blue Buffalo takes pride in using only the finest, all-natural human grade ingredients in their products. Having started with food for dogs, they have expanded their product line and developed cat food as well.

A few years ago, their cat food was actually affiliated with 'American Nutrition'. This was changed about three years ago when they found out that a specific rice protein contaminated their formulas. Blue Buffalo took the liberty of recalling all available Blue Spa products and consequently changed its name. Being strong advocates of the fight against environmental toxins in food for pets, this remains to be an important aspect of their mission today.

Blue Buffalo Cat Food has two kinds: the dry food as well as the canned version. The Blue Longevity product is being sold in 2 and 5 pound bags. Blue Spa Select dry cat good are produced in 3, 7 and 15 pound bags. There are also what we call the Blue Wilderness Formula, sold in 2, 6 and 12 pound bags, and the Blue Organic dry food also in the same size bags.

What's great about this food brand is that they are able to differentiate the vitamins and nutrients that our cats need, depending on their age. The Blue Longevity formula includes one for kittens, another kind for adults and the last one for mature cats. They are even able to differentiate the protein and fat content for a specific group. For example, a Blue Buffalo Chicken and Brown Rice Cat Food for kittens would have 36% protein and 20% fat. The ones for adults (Blue Buffalo Adult Cat Chicken and Brown Rice) would have lesser protein at 34% and fat content at 18%.

Different ingredients are being used, but one thing is certain: everything that goes into their food have no artificial flavors, preservatives or additives. If your cat does not like chicken, they also offer a salmon and rice combination. And there are more options to choose from! Indoor cats with sensitive skin have their own customized food; so does healthy indoor cats. If you want your cat to lose a little bit of weight, you can feed him the Cat Weight Control Cat Food which only has 28% protein and 9% fat. Talk about a product that really tailor-fits their food to your exact nutrition needs!

If you are new to trying the Blue Buffalo products, it would be best to give it to them gradually until they get used to the taste. While other cats may not appreciate it at first, you can be sure that the health of your beloved pets will be taken care of. Once they get used to it, expect your cat to follow you around the house until you give them their new meal!
